PiE: A Collaborative Evolution in Medical Edutainment (Platform for Intelligent Edutainment LLP)
As a Founding Director and Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Suraj Dhirwani dedicated over a decade to PiE (Platform for Intelligent Edutainment), an innovative LLP co-founded alongside the visionary Dr. Tushar Shah and Dr. Tushar Maniar. Together, this core leadership team transformed a singular successful event into a decade-long movement that redefined Continuing Medical Education (CME) through the lens of “edutainment.”
Engineering the Flagship Experience
While Dr. Shah and Dr. Maniar provided the creative and intellectual spark for the content, Dr. Suraj Dhirwani acted as the “architect behind the curtain.” For the biennial flagship event, QED (Quizzing Entirely for Doctors), he orchestrated the high-stakes technical production at St. Andrew’s Auditorium, Bandra. Managing a complex multimedia environment, he engineered over 5,000 educational slides and 1,000+ video assets, ensuring seamless execution for audiences of over 300 physicians.
A Diverse Portfolio of Medical Engagement
Under the collective leadership of the directors, PiE developed a vast ecosystem of events designed to upskill and engage the medical fraternity:
- Clinical Excellence: Events like MedicMaestro (rapid-fire clinical quizzing) and SOS (Symposia on Symptomatology) focused on deep-tier learning and upskilling for General Practitioners.
- Cultural Intersections: ‘Kuch Geet Kuch Gupshup’ blended musical trivia with medicine, while ‘Bombay Haazir Hai’ offered a unique medical-perspective heritage walk through South Mumbai’s Victorian Gothic and Art Deco districts.
- Academic Outreach: The team hosted “MicroQEDs” at premier institutions, including Grant Government Medical College (JJ Hospital), Seth G.S. Medical College (KEM), L.T.M.M.C. (Sion Hospital), T.N.M.C. (Nair Hospital), and B.J. Government Medical College, Pune. Dr. Suraj Dhirwani hosted some of these as the quizmaster himself.
- Residential CMEs:Â With the support of FLAME University, Pune, the directors hosted multi-day intensives for over 100 doctors, focusing on “unlearning” and updates in diagnostics and nutrition.
Digital Stewardship & Legacy
As CTO, Dr. Suraj Dhirwani complemented the clinical brilliance of his partners by building the firm’s digital infrastructure. He designed the official website and established a monetised YouTube channel, ensuring the team’s “edutainment” philosophy reached a global digital audience.
After ten years of successful partnership and innovation in medical pedagogy, Dr. Suraj Dhirwani moved on from his role as a stakeholder and director in 2023, carrying forward the invaluable experience of building one of India’s most unique medical education platforms.
